                     RULES OF COMPETITION               

    
   
  1. U.S.G.A. Rules: The U.S.G.A. Rules will govern all play except as modified by local rules.  The YGOA Tournament Committee must approve local rules.  Decisions of the Tournament Committee will be final on all interpretation of the rules of golf, local rules and regulations.
 
  1. LOCAL RULES:
    1. Lateral, Water & Out of Bounds markings will be addressed at the official players rules meeting day of event.
    2. Unmarked “Ground Under Repair” , play two balls & a decision will be made by Committee at the end of the round.  Rule 3.3.
    3. All other local rules or updates will be addressed at the official players rules meeting day of event.
 
  1. PLAYERS:  Must check in at the registration area 15 minutes before their tee times.  Be at the first tee ready to play 5 minutes before your tee off time.  The penalty for being late to the tee is 2 strokes.  Penalty for lateness beyond 5 minutes is disqualification.  (Rule 6-3)
 
  1. The use of tobacco, drugs or alcohol or any betting between competitors is strictly prohibited.  All violators will be disqualified.
 
  1. CADDIES, motorized golf carts or pull carts:  are prohibited unless approved by Committee.  Note: The use of caddies by tournament contestants is allowed in the 8u & 10u age divisions.  Events that are deemed "beginner" or "educational" events or where designated by local rules committee. Caddie privileges as follows- Line up on Tee only, may tell yardage, club, direction to aim, hit, or putt but do not physically line up on each shot. Maximum of 2 practice swings.
 
  1. ETIQUETTE:  Any display of temper such as club throwing, cursing, hollering, etc… may be grounds for a 2 stroke penalty or in extreme cases, disqualification.  Any damage to the golf course, grounds, facility or buildings will result in disqualification and the player will be held liable for any and all damages and repairs.
 
  1. CARTS:  During competition, when a shuttle is furnished between holes or during play, ONLY an YGOA authorized cart may transport players.  Players MAY NOT ride in any unauthorized carts (EVEN ON A HOLE WHERE AN YGOA CART IS FURNISHED).  The penalty is 2 strokes and disqualification for repeated offenses.  The EXCEPTION is if there is a suspension of play, any way to get to safety is approved.  All carts should be a minimum of 50' from the greens.
 
  1. RAIN OUT POLICY:  The Committee will decide the number of holes for the tournament.  Consideration and decisions will be final and for the player’s health and safety.  In case of suspension they will select a hole that is sure to be completed by all competitors.
 
  1. LIGHTING POLICY:  Each player/competitor is responsible for determining danger from lighting and does not need the Committee permission to seek shelter.  If the Committee suspends play, listen for (1) ONE LONG BLAST OF AN AIR HORN, ALL PLAYERS MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY.  You do not have an option to finish the hole that you are on.  (2) TWO SHORT BLASTS OF THE AIR HORN WILL RESTART PLAY.  The penalty for breaking this rule is disqualification.
 
  1. DARKNESS POLICY:  The Committee will be the final decision for ending the round due to darkness.  In case of suspension of play they will select a hole that is sure to be completed by all competitors in ample daylight.  That hole shall be the final scheduled hole for that day.
 
  1. SPECTATORS:  Players are responsible for the spectator’s actions.  Spectators must stay a minimum of 25 yards away and off to the side of the players.  Any spectator either directly in front of the player or behind the player will be in violation of Rule 8.  Penalty will be 2 strokes.  All carts must be a minimum 50' from the green.
 
  1. COACHING OR ADVICE:  Any conservation or dialogue between the spectator and the player will be considered advice and a violation of Rule 8.  ALL Range Finders and Sky Caddies are prohibited.  Penalty of 2 strokes with the second violation results in disqualification.
 
  1. SCORECARDS:  Please return Signed and attested scorecards Immediately upon completion of play to the scoring table.  A scorecard is considered officially returned when the play has left the immediate area of the scoring table without the scorecard.  No parents or spectators should be at the score table.
 
  1. TIES:  A playoff will be used to decide First Place only.  All other ties will be decided by a match of cards as described in USGA Attachment 1.  The Player is responsible to be present for any playoff.
 
  1. DRESS CODE:  All participants are required to wear appropriate golf attire at all times while participating in YGOA events.  Education days and seminars dress code may vary.
 
  1. DECISIONS:  Decisions of the YGOA Committee will be final in all matters concerning the tournament.
 
  1. PARENTS/SPECTATORS:  YGOA is a parent friendly organization and parents and other interested persons are encouraged to be spectators, however you must follow the rules established by the U.S.G.A and the local organizing committee.
 
  1.  ELIGIBILITY:  All players must be a current member in good standing of YGOA to participate in camps, clinics, seminars and tournaments.
